Over 500 years ago, during the Ming Dynasty, the philosopher Wang Yangming was exiled to Longchang in Guizhou for offending the eunuch Liu Jin with his advice. In the remote, quiet, and harsh conditions of a stone cave, he spent his days and nights in deep reflection, eventually attaining a profound understanding of the true meaning of "Gewu Zhizhi" (investigation of things to extend knowledge). Here, "Ge" means "to bring it to correctness," and "Wu" refers to "things". The essence of "Gewu" lies in realizing one’s innate conscience. Wang Yangming’s enlightenment at Longchang has been celebrated for centuries and, over time, has been passed down through generations like a sustaining flame.
